Google has packed a lot of new features and enhancements in its latest operating system, but there are several basic features seem to be lacking in Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Users, after upgrading their Nexus devices to the latest OS, complained that there is no battery percentage displayed in the status bar nor any way to customize Quick Settings toggles that should appear in the Notifications Panel. It would be relieving for many to know that these features aren’t missing in Marshmallow, but simply hidden away. Here is how to get battery information and configure Quick Settings in Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Show battery percentage in Android 6:
Several settings are hidden away from users under a secret System UI Tuner menu in Android 6 Marshmallow. Enabling this hidden and super useful menu is very simple though. All that you need to do is:
- Swipe down your notification panel.
- Long press on the Settings icon and you will see a notification popping up and taking you to the settings menu.
- At the bottom, you will see the Control Panel.
Once inside the System UI Tuner, you can choose which Quick Settings toggles should appear in the notification panel and what icons should be displayed in the status bar. You can make your Nexus’s status bar quite clean and uncluttered by disabling some of the icons.
To show the battery percentage, you need to toggle on Show embedded battery percentage, which can be located in the System UI Tuner options.
The battery percentage will then be displayed inside the battery icon which is a little difficult to read compared to its being displayed beside the icon, but a lot easier to interpret compared to no-percentage at all.
