Rise of the Tomb Raider is scheduled to release this November for the Xbox One and Xbox 360. Fans of the franchise are eager to know when the title will be releasing on other formats, including the PC and the PS4. YouTube channel The Know, is reporting that Rise of the Tomb Raider will be making its way to the PlayStation 4 in Q4 2016. According to them an inside source has informed them that Square Enix will be publishing Rise of the Tomb Raider on the PS4 at the discounted price of $40. This can only be considered a rumor for now, but it may serve as an indication as to the release window of Rise of the Tomb Raider on other platforms, including the PC.
Featuring epic, high-octane action moments set in the most beautiful hostile environments on earth, Rise of the Tomb Raider promises to deliver a cinematic survival action adventure where players will join Lara Croft on her first tomb raiding expedition as she seeks to discover the secret of immortality.
Tomb Raider has long been a franchise with a big focus on exploration and puzzle solving, as well as providing some platforming thrills and shooting sequences. 2013’s Tomb Raider, focused more in creating a strong origin story for Lara Croft, and helping players of a new generation identify with the heroine in a more subtle way, by introducing the tomb element in a more linear but still effective and appealing form.
This time around she is more prepared and better equipped, to face bigger challenges and explore larger tombs with much more puzzle solving and platforming action. The environment of Siberia will offer more extreme conditions for Lara to adapt to, and her new equipment will come in great use when facing avalanches and climbing dangerous icy peaks.
Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics demonstrated the first gameplay of Rise of the Tomb Raider. The game looks absolutely stunning, especially with the impressive Siberia setting’s weather and environmental effects taking center stage.
The latest gameplay footage that has been made available, features a new level called “Siberian Wilderness”. The fifteen minute long video can be watched below:
The footage sees Lara taking on some bad guys and come across a huge bear. The new gameplay footage is arguably a bit more interesting than the one demonstrated during Microsoft’s press conference, and provides a nice look into the stealth mechanics of the game, as well as some nice cutscenes that showcase the stunning detail in which Lara is rendered with in the new adventure.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is scheduled to arrive in Winter 2015 exclusively on Xbox platforms. We will bring you any news regarding any potential availability of the title on other platforms as soon as it becomes available.
