Mate 8 is one powerful phablet, but Huawei is not yet finished with releasing another slew of devices and with 2016 kicking off, what better way to start off the year than with the announcement of its P9. According to the latest leak, P9 is going to be packing very impressive hardware, with one notable difference being that it will feature more RAM than your standard laptop.
Huawei P9 Could Be Announced During CES 2016 And Leaked To Pack 6GB of RAM
We did report that P9 could be announced as early as March 2016, but it looks like the company wants to expedite the process in order to get an early lead against the overwhelming competition. According to the leak, P9 is going to be sporting 6GB of RAM, and the memory will most likely be running at DDR4 speeds. However, the handset will feature the same SoC as its predecessor, Kirin 950.
Kirin 950 is definitely no slouch when it comes to performance, and our leaked benchmarking tests showed exactly that. Another thing to watch out for is that Huawei will most likely be announcing three variants of the device, since the exact same thing that was done by the Chinese firm with its P8. The expected screen sizes and RAM count that we feel will be present in the following models.
- P9 Lite (5.0 inch screen size with 4GB RAM)
- P9 (5.2 inch screen size with 6GB RAM)
- P9 Max (6.8 inch screen size with 6GB RAM)
Take the aforementioned details with grain of salt right now because that is what we believe will be a part of the physical and internal specifications of the three smartphone models. One notable difference between Huawei’s handset lineup will be that according to the source, the upcoming models will be incorporated with dual Sony’s Exmor IMX2X6 rear camera sensors, which is a quite an unusual model name for a sensor, to say the least. These dual camera sensors will each have a max. image resolution of 13MP, but unfortunately, there are no details provided concerning the front camera’s max. image resolution.
Kirin has been the backbone of the performance that you prominently see from the company’s mobile devices, and in addition to working on its own custom mobile OS, the manufacturer is also working on its own custom designed GPU, so let us hope that we get to hear some good news about it during CES 2016. So what exactly is going to be its price tag? Well, according to the source, P9 is going to have a 5,000 Yuan tag, which makes it equal to a whopping $767.83 USD. We guess that premium smartphones are getting more expensive with every passing year but Huawei might think about dialing down that price just a little bit.
