Windows 10 Mobile Carrier Testing Begins Mid Jan 2016; Expected Release in February

Microsoft started releasing Windows 10 Mobile to its latest Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL handsets. There were definitely some installation problems with the update as many preferred the previous operating system over the latest Windows 10 Mobile. Following this, Microsoft had confirmed that the roll out to existing Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 Phone has been delayed until early 2016. While Microsoft did say early, it wasn’t known until today exactly when is the company planning to release the final Windows 10 Mobile version to all the eligible devices.

Windows 10 Mobile carrier testing begins mid January:

Windows 10 Mobile was expected to be officially released on November 16, however, things didn’t work out as were planned by Microsoft. The rollout was expected to happen in December but then it was further delayed when a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed to ZDNet, last week.
“This November we introduced Windows 10 to phones including brand new features such as Continuum and Universal Windows Apps with the introduction of the Lumia 950 and 950 XL. The Windows 10 Mobile upgrade will begin rolling out early next year to select existing Windows 8 and 8.1 phones.”
Microsoft wasn’t really clear about exactly how delayed the OTA update will be. Vodafone Australia has shared its weekly software update list today, which mentions Windows 10 Mobile expected release date. Vodafone is still waiting for the final software to be submitted for testing and is expecting it to arrive in “mid Jan 2016.” This means that it won’t be at least until February when the software update is rolled out to users’ devices.
The list mentions Lumia 630, 640, 640 XL, 730, and Lumia 930 as the expected candidates for this software update in January 2016. As many have reported a better user experience on Windows Phone 8.1 than the Windows 10 Mobile on latest Lumia devices, it is perhaps wise of Microsoft to wait and test every feature rather than getting negative reviews for its latest mobile operating system. Don’t forget to let us know how your experience with Windows 10 Mobile has been so far.
