Nintendo NX Suggested To Be A Home Console Device

The Nintendo NX remains a mystery, but according a recent interview with Koei Tecmo, Nintendo´s new console is suggested to be ´home console device´.

A few weeks ago we reported on how Nintendo filed a patent from might well be the Nintendo NX controller. The patent was filed earlier this year, but was published this December, and describes a trademark for a full touchscreen controller.
Another report suggests that manufacturer Foxconn has been chosen by Nintendo as the main console manufacturer. A host of other companies will allegedly supply the recourses to create NIntendo´s new console.

Nintendo NX suggested to be ‘machine’

The new console is estimated to enter mass shipments in the second quarter. In addition to Foxconn, suppliers such as Foxconn Technology, Macronix, Pixart Imaging, Coxon Precise Industrial, Nishoku Technology, Delta Technology, Lingsen Precision Industries and Jentech will also supply components for the device.
Will the console by a handheld console or a new console home device? Or perhaps a combination of both to bring the best of both worlds? Until Nintendo confirms these reports, the NX remains shrouded in mystery. If a recent interview with Koei Tecmo CEO Yoichi Erikawa is to be believed though, Nintendo’s new console will be console home device.
4Gamer: On one hand,  virtual reality requires special machinery to play, and we feel that the current state of “games” is headed to yet another way of playing. It’s almost as if it’s evolving towards the opposite direction of smartphones, and requires to “only play at that spot,” or something along those lines. Lately it seems that [home] consoles haven’t been doing too well, but is that the case? At least that’s what we’re wondering.
Erikawa: “Actually, I think that it’ll start doing much better. The PlayStation 4 has recently surpassed 2 million units in nationwide sales, and Nintendo announced a new ‘machine’ called the NX. From this point forward, I believe that each company will make clear commitments for these machines.”
Erikawa specifically mentions the Nintendo NX as being a ‘machine’, likely ruling out the possibility for another Nintendo handheld. What are your thoughts on the NX? Hit the comments below.
