The Star Wars Battlefront beta, delivers a constant 60fps experience on consoles, and despite the native resolutions of the two versions, being at 900p for the PS4 and 720p for the Xbox One, provides a beautiful looking game. With graphics settings being the equivalent of High on PC, Star Wars Battlefront does look quite impressive, and thanks to DICE’s implementation of improved lighting techniques on the frostbite 3 engine as well as photogrammetry, manages to recreate the Star Wars feel and look as best as it has ever been. Digital Foundry takes a look at how local split-screen performance is shaping up, which reveals DICE drop frame-rate from 60fps to 30fps which is fair enough, but it’s not quite as consistent an experience. You can view Digital Foundry’s analysis below.
Star Wars Battlefront Split-Screen delivers a 30fps not so consistent experience
As Digital Foundry discovers, even though the 30fps cap is understandable for split-screen, the inconsistent frame times unfortunately damage the experience somewhat, causing stutters. Being a beta, this will potentially be remedied by the time of the game’s release next month, providing a statisfactory local multi-player experience.
Star Wars Battlefront will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 19, 2015. We will bring you any new information on Star Wars Battlefront as soon as it becomes available.
