The upcoming flagship graphics card from AMD the Radeon R9 Fury X has been pictured, four times and anonymously leaked via a facebook user. Just yesterday we dismissed two rumors that were hovering around the new graphics card, The first claimed that there will only be 30 thousand units made in 2015 and the second claimed that the card will only be offered with liquid cooling. Both rumors however were debunked.
Three days ago we exclusively confirmed all the specifications for AMD’s upcoming Fiji XT powered Radeon graphics cards, Fury X and Fury. Just in the following couple of days we’ve seen a flood of leaks about the new graphics cards. Today’s is made of four photos showing Fury X in its entirety.
AMD Radeon Fury X Pictured In All Its Glory
Needless to say these newcomers will be AMD’s fastest and most advanced graphics chips to date. The Fiji GPU, both the XT and Pro variants, form the foundation of AMD’s new ultra enthusiast “Fury” brand. There are several reasons as to why AMD decided to resurrect the “Fury” brand name with Fiji. Chief among which is that with Fiji AMD will be introducing the world’s first GPU featuring 3D stacked High Bandwidth Memory, otherwise known as HBM. Another reason is the sheer performance of the chip, which AMD has proclaimed to be the fastest in the world. To crown these achievements AMD decided that a simple numerical product name will not do this chip justice and thus will be bringing back the Fury brand name.
The leaked photos don’t show us anything particularly new that we haven’t already seen before. However they do give us a more accurate representation of the aesthetic design of the card. For example the new photos clearly show that the card will actually feature a very dark, almost black, metallic shroud. Where as it’s been portrayed more as a silver shade in the MSI renders.
The red “Radeon” which is engraved into a metal plate is LED lit as we had detailed three days ago and will light up once the machine is turned on. Slightly above that engraved “Radeon” there’s a dual BIOS switch. Which can come in handy whilst overclocking or when flashing the BIOS.
As far as the liquid cooling goes the radiator, we’ve previously confirmed that the radiator is a 120mm tight mesh design. Included with the radiator is a premium 120×25 Scythe Gentle Typhoon fan, each of these actually costs $25. And is one of the best radiator fans both in terms of static pressure and noise.
The length of the card is 19cm or 7.5inches and in terms of width the card is a dual-slot design but will occupy slightly less than two PCIe slots. As we’ve detailed in our exclusive debut of Fury X a month ago, the rear I/O includes three full sized DisplayPorts and one HDMI connection. Finally the card is rated at a 300W TDP and is powered by two 8pin PCIE power connectors.
