AMD Radeon 300 Series Already Available For Sale At BestBuy – R9 390X, 390, R7 370 and 360

Apparently BestBuy didn’t get the memo for AMD’s Radeon 300 series launch date, because the retailer has already started selling the cards. You can buy an AMD Radeon R9 390X, R9 380, R7 370 or R7 360 directly from the retailer. As the cards can already be found on shelves. We’ve covered the arrival of these cards to BestBuy two days ago. At which point a person who works there confirmed via reddit that they have received shipments of AMD Radeon R9 390X 8GB, R9 390 8GB, R7 370 and R7 360 cards.

The photos above are credited to Legitreviews who have actually visited a BestBuy and found the cards on sale. Unfortunatenly if you have the itch to buy one now you’re probably better off waiting until the official launch date. Because BestBuy has been known to attach some premiums to the pricing for GPUs and this particular indecent is no exception.

AMD Radeon 300 Series Already Available For Sale In BestBuy – Hefty Premiums Attached

The Radeon R9 390 for example which has an MSRP of $329 is being sold for $369, while the $107 R7 360 is being sold for $150.  These markups aren’t exclusive to AMD Radeon cards either. The $349 GTX 970 SSC for example is being sold for $379, which is $30 over the actual price of the card. If we deduct the $30 premium found on the GTX 970 from the the XFX DD R9 390 8GB and the R7 360, we get $339.99 and $119 respectively, just $10 over MSRP . Which is expected considering these are custom cooled cards with unlocked voltage control and lifetime warranty.
This will obviously not be an issue when the cards are officially released, because BestBuy accepts price matching. Unfortunately seeing as how BestBuy is the only retailer selling 300 series cards as of right now, there is nothing to price match to.

It’s important to note that the R9 390X 8GB will not be AMD’s fastest graphics card. The Radeon flagship is actually Fury X. A brand new graphics card featuring the company’s most advanced and powerful GPU, code named Fiji. Which also happens to be the first GPU in the world to feature 3D stacked High Bandwidth Memory, or HBM for short.

We have yet to see the new Radeon Flagship, Fury X, arriving to retailers. Perhaps the card will initially be sold directly by AMD similarly to how the GTX Titan X was immediately available directly from Nvidia after release. Yet it took a few days for the add-in-board partners to sell the card through retail and e-tail.
