The Witcher 3 Is the End of Geralt’s Story, But Not the End of The Witcher Series

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be the final Witcher game in which Geralt of Rivia plays the lead role. CD Projekt Red confirmed this back in 2013. Senior writer Jakub Szamałek explains the developers’ decision in an interview with IGN.
“I think good stories must have an ending,”
“You cannot extend them indefinitely, and we felt that Geralt has had such an amazing adventure, and his saga is already so long and complex that this seemed like a good point to think about an appropriate finale for the story.”

CD Projekt RED however is not ruling out more Witcher games coming in the future.
“The Witcher universe is a very big place with a lot of NPCs, a lot of characters, a lot of places we haven’t shown yet,” Szamałek explains
“So, we might return to it at some point…but we think that this is a good place to let Geralt enjoy his retirement and try something new.”

It is quite possible that future iterations in The Witcher franchise could feature Ciri as a protagonist.

or a completely new character. Regardless The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will surely be an unforgettable experience and one of the best games of the year.

CD Projekt RED will likely focus on Cyberpunk 2077 next, which looks to be an incredibly promising title with a very interesting premise, which will benefit greatly from all the work CD Projekt RED has done on the Witcher 3.

The new site for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt features a vast description in all aspects of the massive RPG including its story, enemies and allies, the child of prophecy, equipment, mutations and others.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is said to offer over 100 hours of game time, and even a speedrun took internal testers 25 hours to complete. The full map of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is absolutely huge, and there are many different areas and environments that players traverse in during their countless quests.
Nvidia has recently released a gameplay video for the Witcher 3, showcasing Nvidia HairWorks, PhysX and other features. A behind the scenes video released by CD Projekt RED shows Game of Thrones’ Charles Dance talk about his role in the Witcher 3.
The Witcher 3 is only three weeks away from release, and as we have previously covered, CD Projekt has already announced that pre-load options are already live, as well as the unlock times for The Witcher 3.
