APUs using the JC stepping have been spotted by Computerbase.de. While the APUs are still using 7000 series nomenclature the newer core stepping indicates that these are the first of the new Kaveri Refresh Platform: Godavari. It remains somewhat unclear why AMD has decided to stick to 7000 series nomenclature and whether 8000 series APUs will be coming now (something in my personal opinion is unlikely now).
AMD A10-7870K and A8-7670K APUs spotted – ‘Godavari’, the Kaveri Refresh Platform begins rolling
The Kaveri-Refresh platform “Godavari” is named after the second largest river of India after the river Ganges and falls in line with Kaveri which is also a name of a river situated in India. Godavari will retain the Kaveri design with up to four “Steamroller” x86 cores, Radeon graphics engine based on the GCN 1.1 architecture with up to 512 stream processors, a dual-channel DDR3 memory controller and HSA [heterogeneous system architecture] capabilities. The APUs will use FM2+ form-factor and will likely be drop-in compatible with existing mainboards.
The AMD’s 10-7870K chip has been listed with the AD787KXDJCBOX part number. The price of the new APU is €176 which equates to the $190 price point, roughly equivalent to Kaveri. While the part has higher clocks, details are scarce and it remains to be seen whether they have any new features as opposed to just a higher revision. The A10-7870K will have TDP of 95W, core clock (boost) of 3.9 Ghz and L2 cache of 4MB. Similarly, the A10-7670K will have TDP of 95W, core clock (boost) of 3.6 Ghz and L2 cache of 4MB.
Given below are the leaked SKU specifications of the Godavari platform, in 8000 series nomenclature (something that might not be true anymore):
