Chromebook Pixel from Google is the most powerful Chrome OS running device till date. This laptop’s specs and price were unveiled by Google. There’s no word on its availability or the exact launch date.
The Chromebook pixel will be available with Intel’s most powerful processors, the Core i7 or Core i5 with a base clock speed of 2.2, 2.4 GHz respectively. The CPU model number has not been revealed. Thus it’s not clear whether the laptop has a dual core or quad core chip. This device features a 12.85 inch high resolution (2560 x 1700 pixels) touchscreen display that flaunts a brightness of 400 nits. The display has 240 pixel density and its aspect ratio is 3:2. According to Google, this ratio is perfect for a good multimedia experience. Google Chromebook pixel uses Intel 5000 graphics chip that can transfer 4k data through HDMI or DisplayPort. Just like Apple, Google has ditched RJ-45 LAN and USB ports as it has installed a USB type C universal port in the this laptop. There are 2 USB-C modules in this laptop that can be used for charging.
Google Chromebook pixel has a web-camera that houses a wide-angle lens and 720 pixel sensor. It will ship with 64 or 32 GB of flash storage memory (SSD). This laptop is fitted with a backlit keyboard and a trackpad which is built with etched glass. It features dual band WiFi system (model number 7260 manufactured by Intel) and Bluetooth 4.0. The Chromebook pixel will deliver 720 minutes of battery backup, which is great for a high end machine. It supports 16GB RAM. Its weight is around 1.49 KG.
Other important features of this laptop are HD sound system, inbuilt microphone and a headphone jack. This device will be available on the Google US play store for price staring at 999 dollars. It will compete with Apple Macbook Air 2015 and other laptops that feature core I7or I5 processors. The I7 version of Pixel will feature 16GB of RAM and it will be sold for 1199 dollars (below 73000 in India).
