HTC Desire 526G+ Express review: Moto G has competition, finally
Over the past couple of years HTC has evolved as a company. From a primarily premium brand, the company has now morphed into a full bouquet player with a device to offer at every price range. They might have had varying degrees of success with the budget phones, but there is no doubt that this company wants to become a serious contender in this space. The latest offering from the Taiwanese company seems to have been created with emerging markets like India in might.
HTC Desire 526G+ dual sim
The Desire 526G+ looks a bit different from most other phones available in this price range. That is because this comes with dual speakers, flanking the 4.7-inch qHD display. There are not many budget phones with dual speaker option for sure. There is an anodised aluminum-like band that runs around the phone. I got a review unit with a violet frame and was not really happy flashing it around. Those with subtle tastes might want to go for the black version of this phones.
Specs: 4.7-inch (540x960p, ~234ppi) | MTK MT6592 1.7GHz octa-core processor with 1GB RAM | 16Gb storage expandable up to 32GB | 8MP AF rear camera + 2MP front camera | Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4 | 2000 mAh battery | Android 4.4 with Sense UI
Price: Rs 11,400 (8GB version: Rs 10,400)
What sets this phone apart?
I would say there are lot of factors that give this phone an edge. One, the phone offers good processing power at this price point. It is rare for HTC to use a MediaTek processor, but there is a good reason why it is doing so. This phone is better off than most of its competitors when it comes to benchmarking and actual processing. While most new budget phones are still listed under the HTC One, this phone is at least 20 percent better in performance. You notice this when you are switching through apps and just browsing.
The other big thing has to be the camera. The 526G+ has one of the best cameras in a budget phone. The proof is in the photos below. The kind of detail on the photos is very impressive. The came is also fast and you are ready for the next shot before you know it.
The phone comes in two versions, an 8GB and a 16GB version. The price different is just Rs 1,000 and I would suggest that you go for the more expensive option.
