YotaPhone 2

Additional YotaPhone 2 release details arrive
How long have we been waiting for the YotaPhone 2, the dual-screened, e-ink-based handset we got to look at all the way back in February… and have been patiently looking forward to the start of sales ever since? A couple weeks back the first parts of the smartphone’s commercial launch started coming together, as we learned of a presentation due to take place tomorrow in London. While that will obviously bring all sorts of new information about the YotaPhone 2 and its availability, a few extra details have already come to light regarding just where this phone will go up for sale, and when.
Word is that Yota intends to get its phone out into the markets of twenty European nations sometime this month. We haven’t seen an exhaustive list just yet, but with that many making the cut, we can’t imagine the handset will be too difficult to track down.
Following Europe, the plan is to bring the YotaPhone 2 to China and other nations in the Asia-Pacific region; this should be happening in the early days of 2015. After the phone’s out there, Yota’s setting its sights on the Americas – well, at least some of them. Canada and Latin American countries will get access to the YotaPhone 2 after it comes to Asia, but there’s no confirmation so far about any intent to close that gap and bring the handset to the United States, as well.
Finally, we hear a little about pricing, with a sticker that works out to about $610 for the YotaPhone 2 as it will arrive in Russia – but how that will translate across country lines remains to be seen.
Check back with us tomorrow for any further information that emerges from the Yota London announcement.
