Tom Clancy’s The Division Can Work as a Single-Player Seamless Experience

During an interview with lazygamer at rAge, Community Developer Hamish Bode, shared a few interesting details regarding Tom Clancy’s The Division, and how the upcoming title will work as a solo experience.

The Division can be a solo experience with a bit more multitasking

Bode explains that The Division will require you to multitask more in order to progress through the game alone, and the beta will give players the chance to experience the different ways in which objectives could be tackled.
“For example: I could specialize in a more long-range approach and you could be more up close [if playing together]. You’d have to be a little more multitasking if you were alone, or just try what works. That’s what’s interesting about the beta – people are going to find all sorts of ways that work for them.”

The Division is a seamless experience with no “loading into” different areas

Hamish Bode continues that The Division is a seamless experience with different areas or zones being readily available without loading into.
“It is seamless. For example, the Dark Zone. You don’t load into it, you just jump the wall and you’re in. And sometimes [players] are going to do this accidentally. And it’s not always just walls – there are different types of entries and exits [to different zones]. And some only act as entries. So if [players] aren’t sure, maybe don’t jump.”

The Division’s Dark Zone is a place of contamination, fear and betrayal. Fredrik Rundqvist, The Division’s executive producer, explains what to expect.
“It went up in stages,” Executive Producer Fredrik Rundqvist explains the birth of the Dark Zone. “It started as a basic cordon, but ultimately became a full-blown quarantine zone. Eventually the pressure became too much – too many sick, not enough aid workers, the number of guards dwindled, things broke down, and civil unrest and lawlessness ran rampant. A blackout was the nail in the coffin that forced the military to abandon the area. They dropped everything they had and headed for the gates, most of them barely making it out at all. Left behind were not just the supplies, medicine and weapons, but also tens of thousands of sick, dying and dead.”
“The Dark Zone is one very large walled off area in midtown Manhattan that you seamlessly enter from the open world,” says Rundqvist. “It’s a dangerous and lawless place. The enemies and missions here encourage players to team up in order to up their chances of survival.”
Tom Clancy’s The Division has a planned release date of March 8, 2016 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. We will bring you any new information on The Division as soon as it becomes available.
