Here Are More Snapdragon 820 Benchmarks For You – Interesting Results

Snapdragon 820, as we all know is Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chipset manufactured on Samsung’s 14nm FinFET architecture. More benchmarking results of the SoC have appeared and they are quite interesting as you will see shortly.

Snapdragon 820 Performs Quite Well In Geekbench, At Least In The Single-Core Tests

According to a source, benchmarking results courtesy of Geekbench have appeared online and the most interesting thing about these results are the multi-core tests. Snapdragon 820 is supposed to be the company’s fastest chipset to date, and will be running Qualcomm’s custom Kryo cores in a quad-core package. The chipset is able to score quite impressively in the single-core test results of Geekbench; obtaining 1,887 points in the benchmark. However, we hoped that the SoC would be able to replicate the same results in the multi-core tests, but that was not to be, since it only manages to score 3,936 points in the same benchmark.

However, upon close inspection of the specifications, we saw that Snapdragon 820 was running a quad-core processor at 1.6GHz, along with 4GB of RAM, which would explain why the SoC was not able to perform well in the benchmark. Let us hope that the end-product will have a much higher clock speed than the one we witnessed in the specifications table. Another interesting thing about these benchmarking results is that even Snapdragon 810 is able to Snapdragon 820 in the multi-core test results, and out of all the chipsets benchmarked, the former scores the least amount of points in the single-core tests.
Apple has showcased once more that it is the dominating figure in Geekbench’s single-core tests as the company’s iPhone 6s obliterates the competition in this particular benchmarking segment (even though we got a much different result than what is depicted in these tests). The great thing about Snapdragon 820 is that it is finally able to exceed the capabilities of Exynos 7420, which was expected from the upcoming SoC. Qualcomm’s flagship chipset is expected to be present in smartphones during the first quarter of next year, and hopefully, consumers and critics alike will not find any overheating and thermal throttling complains from the chipset.
