Galaxy Note 7 Recall Reaches Final Stages as Samsung Brings Back Nearly 2.7 Million Units

Galaxy Note 7 recall final stages
Since there were a huge number of incidents involving the Galaxy Note 7 where the device would go up in smoke and deliver a small amount of damage to the surroundings, the recall phase was initiated by Samsung in a bid to replace the batteries to make them safe. After that didn’t pan out the way the tech giant wanted, it ultimately made the decision to stop selling the smartphone altogether. While we certainly cannot give a round of applause to Samsung for failing to prevent its flagship from exploding, at least we can appreciate the strides it took to recall a plethora number of units.

Samsung Reported to Have Recalled 2.7 Million Galaxy Note 7 Units – Still Has Not Provided Its Own Analysis of Why the Phablet Was Exploding in the First Place

According to sources close to the matter, out of a total 3.06 million Galaxy Note 7 units, Samsung has managed to recall a total of 2.7 million units. These are impressive statistics, and what’s even more impressive is that the return ratio from major markets like North America and Europe is well above 90 percent. Some users still cling to their Note 7s and Samsung has provided a nice little surprise for them that will result in a very expensive paperweight in the form of a smartphone. Some carriers are on board with Samsung’s decision, but Verizon does not seem to share the same approach.
Irrespective, Samsung has done a tremendous job throughout these three months and now that they could provide us with their own explanation on why the Note 7 ended up exploding, that would be great. Samsung claims that it will provide its own insights on why the phablet went up in smoke, but it looks like a team of teardown aficionados have already reached the conclusion. Samsung’s engineers didn’t leave sufficient space between for the battery to breath easily when expanding, thereby concluding that this is the reason why the former crown jewel became a ticking time bomb.
At the end of the day, do you think Samsung managed to do a fairly good job of recalling its Galaxy Note 7? Let us know your thoughts in the comments right away.

Apple iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus Benchmarks Beat Samsung’s Galaxy S7 And Note 7; Perform At Par With MacBook Pro 2013

image106-e1442978204450

The launch of the Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus came with the usual claimsnof performance and efficiency upgrades. Apple dubbed its new processor for the device as the A10 ‘Fusion’, and claimed that the SoC had been designed to cater specifically towards power consumption. Other performance upgrades for the lineup also include an increase in RAM for the iPhone 7 Plus. The larger device now features 3GB of RAM. This should contribute towards enhanced performance for the device. Now, we’ve finally managed to get our hands on some authentic benchmarks for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Wondering how the devices stack up against other flagships? Take a look below to find out more.

Apple’s iPhone 7 And iPhone 7 Plus Pull Ahead Of Similar Offerings In Single And Multi Core Benchmarks

When it comes to gauging a device’s performance, most users stick to benchmark scores as a good measure. Apple’s devices have always dominated in single core results, showing Cupertino’s prowess in its software and hardware integration. Switch towards multiple cores, and it’s Android that always comes out on top. Samsung’s Exynos lineup and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon series of processors have comfortably outpaced Apple’s offerings.
This year, with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, things might improve for Cupertino. The A10 Fusion is the first mobile processor in the company’s history to offer four cores. These will have a similar arrangement to the big.LITTLE affair that’s present on Android chipsets. Today, veteran Apple journalist John Gruber has posted some benchmark scores for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. They show a comfortable lead for single core results as would have been expected. The surprising bit are multi core results, where Apple comes out on top as well.
apple-iphone-7-benchmark-scores
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus manage to score a massive lead over Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 and S7 series. While scores of Samsung’s devices average towards 1800, the Apple flagships almost double these by achieving 3,450 points. In multi-core results, the lead isn’t that strong. We’d bet that the Androids here are running Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820, which is also a quad core processor. The Exynos 8890, which powers international variants of the Galaxy lineups is an octa core processor.
An interesting update that John Gruber‘s made to his benchmark scores is that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus beat all MacBook Air variants launched by Apple to date. It also performs comparably to the MacBook Pro 2013, which really goes to show how far mobile hardware has progressed in the course of a couple of years. Thoughts? Let us know what you think in the comments section below and stay tuned for the latest. We’ll keep you updated.

Alleged iPhone 7 Plus Retail Box Surfaces Showing ‘AirPods’ & 32GB Storage

he launch of the Apple iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus is sett to take place in less than a week. Courtesy of the rumor mill, we’ve managed to gather quite a lot of details for the devices. Right now, new color options, redesigned antenna bands and the removal of the 3.5mm earphone jack is expected for the pair. Individually, the iPhone 7 is expected to feature a larger camera sensor, while the iPhone 7 Plus will feature a dual camera. The biggest mystery surrounding the iPhone at this point isn’t the camera however. It’s whether Apple will launch wireless earphones with the device. We’ve seen quite a lot surface on the matter. There’s been talk about a 3.5mm to lightning adapter, wireless and lightning earpods. Today, more has surfaced on the matter. Take a look below.

Another Alleged iPhone 7 Plus Packaging Leak Points Towards Wireless AirPods For Device

Both the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus have seen several leaks so far. We’ve seen specifications, bluperints, renders and images leak of the devices. Now, as their launch date nears, retail packaging leaks of the pair have become more common. Today, yet another alleged packaging of the iPhone 7 Plus has surfaced. If true, then it confirms two previously leaked bits of information for the device.

While we won’t get to see new features for this year’s iPhone, Apple will make some changes nevertheless. In addition to the design upgrades mentioned above, a base storage upgrade to 32GB is also expected for the pair. Today’s leak shows just that and also mentions ‘AirPods’ as well. If taken as true, then you should expect Apple to bundle wireless AirPods with the device as well. This will mark a nice change for the lineup which has started to become rather stagnant over the past couple of years.
An earlier packaging leak for the iPhone 7 Plus suggested that the device will feature 256GB of storage and earpods. As we head near to September 7th, evidence about wireless earphones for this year’s iPhones does seem to be increasing. In addition to packaging leaks, we’ve also seen some filing indicate their existence. Apple’s acquisition of Passif semiconductor will also have a part to play in the matter. Passif’s known for its low cost bluetooth chips, which should feature on these ‘AirPods’.
It isn’t long until Apple’s launch event for the iPhone 7 takes place. Things will become crystal clear in just a matter of days. We’re more eager to see how the dual camera plays out for the larger iPhone and whether Apple will launch any new features this year. The iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus came with 3D Touch, the iPhone 6 came with Apple Pay, so what will the iPhone 7 feature? Thoughts? Let us know what you think in the comments section below and stay tuned for the latest.

Samsung Recalling Its Galaxy Note 7 Units Over Battery Explosion Fears

The second incident of an exploding Galaxy Note 7 has forced Samsung’s hand and now the company is intending on making amends on recalling its flagship units before more harm can be done.

Recalling a Large Number of Galaxy Note 7 Units Will Plummet the Revenue of The Smartphone Giant

Galaxy Note 7 was supposed to be the revenue generator for Samsung but it appears that the handset has given the company more than its fair share of headaches. Reports coming in state that the problem occurred from faulty devices has been pointed towards the batteries.
According to the latest findings, the problem isn’t connected to different adapters and circuitry, but the issue is concerned with the battery. Just a reminder to those who are using third party chargers. I myself am currently in possession of a Tronsmart Titan, and while it is one of the best investments I have made when I want to charge multiple devices at the same time, here’s a precautionary tale for you.
Though my phone’s battery did not explode, I did run into the unfortunate experience of having my phone fail due to using an uncertified third party charger. Either use the charger that has been bundled with the smartphone, or purchase one from very reputable companies such as Tronsmart, Aukey, Anker or others.

To date, there have been a total of 35 globally reported cases where the problem was isolated at the battery. Samsung has also issued a statement regarding the recalling of its Galaxy Note 7:
“Samsung is committed to producing the highest quality products and we take every incident report from our valued customers very seriously. In response to recently reported cases of the new Galaxy Note 7, we conducted a thorough investigation and found a battery cell issue.
To date (as of September 1) there have been 35 cases that have been reported globally and we are currently conducting a thorough inspection with our suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market. However, because our customers’ safety is an absolute priority at Samsung, we have stopped sales of the Galaxy Note 7.
For customers who already have Galaxy Note 7 devices, we will voluntarily replace their current device with a new one over the coming weeks.
We acknowledge the inconvenience this may cause in the market but this is to ensure that Samsung continues to deliver the highest quality products to our customers. We are working closely with our partners to ensure the replacement experience is as convenient and efficient as possible.”

It’s very disappointing to see that a phablet with so much to offer can tarnish the image of the company immediately. Fortunately, Samsung is definitely making amends on its part to replace the affected units and that’s really saying for a firm that wants to remain dedicated to customers. Normally, you don’t see many tech giants catering to consumers as their primary goal is to generate substantial amounts of revenue.
Let us hope that Samsung is able to remove this dark cloud behind it and quickly replace the faulty Galaxy Note 7 units. According to several reviews, the phablet is still one of the best Android smartphones to purchase right now.

First-Person Survival Horror Outlast 2 Delayed To Q1 2017

The first-person survival horror game from Red Barrel Games, Outlast 2, has been delayed to the first quarter of 2017.
The news was announced on the game’s official Facebook page just now. The title was initially slated for a release in the fall of 2016, but the developer wants to test the limits of the game to the extreme.
We had to make a difficult decision recently. After weighing our options we’ve decided to postpone Outlast 2’s release until Q1 of 2017.
We want you to know that we listen to your feedback, we see your excitement and we know you care about our work. Our mission as an indie studio is to deliver to you the best, most terrifying, most fulfilling experiences possible. That’s why we’re taking just a little bit more time to make sure our vision for Outlast 2 is in no way compromised and is the experience you deserve.
This is not the type of news we ever want to deliver, but we are so fully committed to the world we’ve built and to our awesome community that we could not, in good conscience, release a game who’s limits haven’t been tested to the extreme.
Thank you for understanding. We promise Outlast 2 will scare the crap out of you.
Outlast 2 will be released  for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. For more info, check out the game’s Steam page.
Outlast 2 is the sequel to the acclaimed survival horror game Outlast. Set in the same universe as the first game, but with different characters and a different setting, Outlast 2 is a twisted new journey into the depths of the human mind and its dark secrets.
No conflict is ever black and white. But once the dust has settled, the victors get to decide who was right and who was wrong. Who is good and who is evil. Human nature pushes us to extremes of violence and depravity, which we then justify by divine inspiration and a promise of paradise to come. Horror rises from desperation and blind faith. OUTLAST 2 will test your faith, pushing players to a place where going mad is the only sane thing to do.
The original Outlast was released back in 2013, and can be considered quite a success with 3.5 million players having played it.
