‘Witch Chapter 0 [cry]’ Square Enix And NVIDIA Show Emotional Tech Demo Shows Off Realistic Human Emotion

Square Enix with the help of Microsoft and graphics maker NVIDIA showed off an incredibly emotional and technically impressive demo at Microsoft’s BUILD 2015 developer conference. The tech demo portrayed human emotion in a profoundly novel and realistic way.

Square Enix, NVIDIA and Microsoft have just able digitally captured the essence of one of the most difficult to emulate human emotions; sadness and crying.

Square Enix showed off a continuation of their Agni tech demo from 2012. Running on a system provided by Digital Storm that consists of four(4) Titan X’s in SLI, the tech demo is a demonstration of the capabilities that DirectX 12 can provide to a graphics engine. The engine is likely a modified version of the Luminous engine that they’ll use for the upcoming Final Fantasy XV.
The tech demo they’ve created is quite possibly the most advanced representation of human emotion on a digital model to date. They even render the intricacies of crying so very convincingly. More so than ever seen before. Such a convincing representation of the human face is certainly helping to move across the uncanny valley, as it’s called, to something that might truly be able to elicit an emotional response based on facial expressions alone, and not just the surrounding environment, such as the music.
The strong contraction of the orbicularis oculi combined with the subtle contraction of the mentalis and the depressor anguli all add to a realistic portrayal of what a real human face would due when sad and crying. The make-up(?) seems to deform as her tears roll down her cheek as well, adding to the effect. It helps to convince us that the emotion is more real.
The reason that they’re able to accomplish this is because of the incredible prowess of DirectX 12 combined with NVIDIA’s GameWorks solution. Not only does it allow for more draw calls and better multi-threading, but it’s also able to push six to twelve times the polygons to the screen than it’s predecessor can. The hair that delicately moves with the breeze and her movements is constructed entirely of polygons. Obviously you’ll need the hardware to be able to fully take advantage of those benefits, though.

Facial expressions are probably one of the most important types of non-verbal communicative cues that humans use. They play a huge role in communicating emotions and internal states and convey a tremendous amount of information. They’re also relatively universal amongst all human cultures, even those that are isolated, and extensive studies have been conducted on how and why we make facial expressions.
It’s no surprise, then, that this advancement in graphics technology is so important to the future of gaming. The ability to properly display emotion in both body language and facial expressions takes us one step closer to having an incredibly immersive experience that’s just that much more indistinguishable form reality.
But enough of that talky sciency stuff. Take a look at the full tech-demo in action below. And it’s stunning.

HTC One M8’s update to the Lollipop 5.1 firmware will bring stability, enhanced functionality and performance improvements under the hood. An important addition will include HD voice on supported devices along with device protection. initially, the Android 5.1 upgrade started rolling out in March and a little late for HTC One M8 as of now. Lets talk about what HTC has in store for the upcoming update.
Sense 7 is packed with new features for HTC One M8 users, not to forget a smart launcher. The Smart Launcher displays preferred applications according to the location you’re in. The Sense 7 will bring joy to One M8 smartphone holders as HTC has supported new theme app and fonts, colors or other visual elements can also be customized. Along with enhanced UI, HTC has introduced ‘Morning Bundles’ which are packed with news categories and a person’s to-do list for the day. Snapdragon 808 Performance Benchmarks Show Smart Processor Choice By LG For The G4

LG announced the LG G4 two days back and the device confirmed a strong rumor going around. Confirming previous speculation, the company did indeed launch its flagship device with the Snapdragon 808, rather than going with Qualcomm’s top tier Snapdragon 810, as had been the tradition before. With the launch of the G4, the Snapdragon 808 became the center of attention, with users wondering whether it would be able to deliver the performance levels expected of an Android flagship.

Snapdragon-808-throttling.002-980x735Snapdragon 810 Throttling Issues End Up Making Snapdragon 808 A More Rounded Off Processor

The Snapdragon 810 packs a powerful punch when it comes to performance. If you’re looking for top specifications, its one of the few processors on the market that will end up impressing you. But processor performance in mobile devices is barely based on specifications alone, and today’s benchmarks further prove that point. And in the 810’s case, its not a matter of how fast it can go, but rather of how long can it last. Some early tests have been carried out by folks over at ArsTechnica on the 810’s younger sibling, the Snapdragon 808, and end up showing how it performs in areas other than top frequency achieved.

Snapdragon-808-throttling.003-980x735Taking a look at the charts above, its evident where the true strength of the Snapdragon 808 lies. While the Snapdragon 810 does end up achieving significantly higher clock speeds when compared to the 808, tests find that the CPU finds it much difficult to retain these speeds, suffering from overall throttling problems. The 808 however, manages to consistently fit its 1.8 GHz frequency. For the end user, this means more sustained performance when running intensive tasks, as this means you won’t have to worry about your device performance being affected by overheating. In fact, the stark difference between LG’s G Flex 2 and the G4 is clearly evident and even though Samsung’s Exynos for the Galaxy S6 does fare much better, the LG G4 option should suit those who don’t require the extra performance punch Samsung’s offering delivers.
Snapdragon-808-throttling.001-980x735In fact, as evidenced by the figures above, the Snapdragon 808 manages to stick to Qualcomm’s principles of stability coupled with strong processor performance. While figures for the Snapdragon 810 LG G Flex 2 are all over the place, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 with the Snapdragon 805 and LG’s G4 with the 808 both mange to perform well under loads, even though the 805 manages to achieve higher performance figures. Benchmark testing at different temperatures end up further boosting the Snapdragon 808’s case.
Tests on GeekBench 3 for single and multi core show the Snadpragon 810’s capabilities of generating a high score. But as soon as the processor is nice and toasty, scores drop and end up being the lowest in the three processors being tested, namely Samsung’s 14nm Exynos 7420, the Snapdragon 808 and of course, the Snapdragon 810. So when picking up your flagship upgrade for this year, if you’re looking for performance that lasts, be sure to give the LG G4 and the Snapdragon 810 a look. But if you’re looking for heavy duty performance, there really is nothing out there that matches Samsung Exynos 7420. And while these stats do give a good idea of what to expect, device choice after all is a matter of performance preference. So stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments section.

Dead Island 2 Delayed to 2016, Need Time to be Perfect

The release of Dead Island 2 has unfortunately been delayed until sometime in 2016. The developer posted to Twitter that they’re not quite ready to release the game to the wild just yet and want to take their time perfecting their creation.
Dead Island 2

Dead Island 2 has been delayed until 2016. It’s not quite at the point that they want to release it yet.

Dead Island 2 was supposed to be one of the first game released to utilize the fantastic UE4 graphics engine. But the developer, Techland, has had to delay Dead Island 2 until 2016 once they took a nice long hard look at where their game is at now. They promised us an exciting open-world horror-fest, and they don’t seem to feel as if it’s there at the moment.
It would seem that many games have been falling victim to the curse of the setback. Uncharted, Tom Clancy’s The DivisionThe Witcher 3Project Cars and Quantum Break have all seen their fair share of delays. The general theme surrounding those delays seems to be all in the name of improving the game even further. But what’s truly in a delay? Is it because the game needs “finishing” or perhaps a lack of proper project management skills and the ability to set a realistic time frame that results in missed goals? I think it’s the latter. It would seem as if developers get a bit too trigger happy when estimating their time to completion based on work flow. Just give us a reasonable date and don’t promise it’ll be done in three months if you know it can’t be done.
We have always set ourselves a big goal for Dead Island 2: to create the sequel that takes Dead Island to the next level. A game that takes what our fans tell us they love about Dead Island – multiple different characters to play with, co-op, and turning a paradise setting into a zombie slaughter melee – and a game that adds a ton more content and combat options on top of that.
And we wanted to have all of that that done for release in Spring 2015.

We have been looking at the game long and hard, and we have decided we didn’t reach that goal we set out to achieve quite yet. This is why we have decided to delay Dead Island 2 to 2016.
Right now we are focusing purely on development, and we will have more info to share at a later stage.
We know that our fans will be disappointed by this news, but by giving Dead Island 2 more time we are confident that everyone will get a better game to play as a result.

The Witcher 3 More Amazing Ultra Settings Footage; Reviews Will go live a Week Before Release; Geralt is Not the Main Character in the Story

CD Projekt RED has revealed that reviews of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, will go live one week before the launch of the game on May 19 2015. This certainly proves the studio’s faith on the title and should serve as an indication of the quality we can expect from all three versions of The Witcher 3.
Witcher 3 (13)
In The Witcher 3 story, Geralt isn’t actually the main character, Ciri is, Quest Designer Nicolas Kolm told German site Computerbild:
For me Cirilla is the main character in Witcher 3. The story is actually about her. Geralt is just the vessel through which we narrate the story.
Geralt of course is still the main character in terms of gameplay. There are occasions during which players will be able to play as Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon (known as Ciri or the Lion Cub of Cintra) during The Witcher 3, but these sections are supposedly few in comparison to the time spent with Geralt. Still, the plot is mainly about her.
CD Projekt RED’s GingerEffect explained on the official forums:
You’re all more than welcome to have different opinions on the matter.
After all, that’s all it was (even said so in the article, thank you German Journalist for putting in the full quote). Not sure how some people seem to think that this means Geralt is nerfed or made less important. Telling a story through a certain characters eyes, but having that story revolve around another character does not belittle the “vessel” in any way. Look at games such as Last of Us or Bioshock Infinite for examples of what I mean.
And me dissing Geralt? How could I ever diss a fellow beard-man? That’s just silly.
Edit: Before someone construes this as meaning that we rip of Last of Us or Bioshock, that’s NOT what this means. That’s just an example of what I was describing and has no bearing on the story or game of Witcher Wild Hunt. Thanks.
YouTuber ImAnderZEL recently provided 15 minutes of gameplay on Ultra settings on PC (at 1080p@60fps) which we have previously shared, and now he provided some more footage with the same settings, which can be viewed below.

Note that the PC setup featured a GTX 980, i7 4790, and 8GB of RAM. Not the final build of the game, so some bugs could be present.
The new site for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt features a vast description in all aspects of the massive RPG including its story, enemies and allies, the child of prophecy, equipment, mutations and others.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is said to offer over 100 hours of game time, and even a speedrun took internal testers 25 hours to complete. The full map of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is absolutely huge, and there are many different areas and environments that players traverse in during their countless quests.
Nvidia has recently released a gameplay video for the Witcher 3, showcasing Nvidia HairWorks, PhysX and other features. A behind the scenes video released by CD Projekt RED shows Game of Thrones’ Charles Dance talk about his role in the Witcher 3.
The Witcher 3 is only three weeks away from release, and as we have previously covered, CD Projekt has already announced that pre-load options are already live, as well as the unlock times for The Witcher 3.
Witcher (2)
The Witcher 3 will release on May 19 2015 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. We will bring you any new information on The Witcher 3 as soon as it becomes available.

Change Your Apple Watch Layout For Enhanced Experience – How To

Every user has a set of preferences and priorities in the application department. To stop or hinder unwanted apps from coming into sight every time you access your Apple Watch. There are numerous layouts that you can develop on your own just by connecting the apps. The controls also enable you to place app icons where its feasible for you to access them. This will ease you to put your favorite apps where you want and how you want.
Apple Watch
Fortunately, Apple has provided enough support to customize the Watch layout and re-position applications. On that note, users would have been  potentially bored by the single layout if the Apple Watch did not had support for customization. Moving on to the topic, lets head down to the steps required to change the layout and position app icons.

Transform Your Layout In Any Possible Design On The Apple Watch

If you have an Apple Watch, you will most probably have the Apple Watch Companion app that enables you to control your Watch from your iPhone. Below are a few steps provided which will guide you to change the Apple Watch layout and app positions.
  • Open the Apple Watch Companion App and head to App Layouts to change them.
  • Hold down apps and drag them to make a layout of your own. You will see that the Apple Watch App icons are displayed in a style that resembles a net. So icons should be arranged accordingly.
  • To position favorite apps according to your priority, hold and drag the app icon to the location you want them to be.
That’s all there is to customizing your Apple Watch home screen. Do take note that the Clock App cannot be moved elsewhere. This is because when you go to the menu, it will always display Clock App in the middle and remaining applications at the sides. Another factor to observe is that the app icons are linked with each other, so you can not set an app apart from others, just what you cant do with your apps in iOS.
Its totally up to you how you want your layout to be by joining app icons together. Test your skills and design layouts according to your need and preferences. As for now, let us know if this helped you set your layout on the Apple Watch. Visit us again for more guides and how to’s.

Sony Xperia Z5: Ultra Slim Design, 4K Screen, Improved Camera

Sony is highly expected to release a more flagship-py smartphone this year after a dull release of Xperia Z4. We have already seen some specs sheets and leaked information about Sony Xperia Z5 and another phone allegedly titled as Xperia P2. While we are unsure what Sony exactly is planning to launch next, some rumors earlier indicated that we could see an Xperia Z5 launch in fall this year or earlier next year.
Reports so far have suggested that Sony Xperia Z5 would prove to be the Galaxy S6 duo for the Japanese phone maker as it tries to deviate from years-stale design and brings something new. Sony is expected to work on the design and features of its next-gen phone with a specific focus on camera module.

Sony Xperia Z5 specs:

So far we know that the rumored next-gen Sony Xperia Z5 specs will be:
  • New metallic design
  • 1440 x 2560 resolution screen
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip (possibly built by Samsung‘s 14nm FinFET tech)
  • 4 GB of RAM
  • Improved 21-megapixel rear camera (with a new IMX230 sensor with optical image stabilization)
  • Sense ID fingerprint sensor
It is not yet clear if these rumors are hitting at the right spot or just flying in the realms of salt. In any case, here are some Sony Xperia Z5 renders that envision the next gen Xperia flagship in a thin design, almost non-existant screen bezels, and a 4K resolution screen. Built with metal and glass, these renders want the device to be powered by an octa core chip and 4GB of RAM. Battery would be 4,500 mAh strong worthy to power the screen.
This render also envisions the front snapper to be a 10-megapixel module. Nothing is mentioned about the rear camera. Whether you like these specs and designs or not, there is nothing for us to do but to wait for Sony to make its next move.

Here are the Xperia Z5 renders via Concept Phones.

Hololens (5)

Microsoft demonstrated the Hololens headset with Windows 10 and revealed that universal Windows apps can support the technology.

During a live demo at Microsoft’s Build conference, they explained that all universal apps will work with the Windows Holographic platform and Hololens itself.
An on-stage demo showed a HoloLens-wearing employee pinning application windows around his physical environment and interacting with 3D models. Universal Windows apps are also headed to Xbox One later this year, which at least suggests Hololens console functionality will also be possible.
